Today, we are a leading design firm, creating unmistakable spaces and experiences for the most recognizable names in sports and entertainment. We use the power of design to transform neighborhoods, revitalize cities, build relationships and connect people to being part of something bigger.
As a firm founded on innovation and the confidence to pursue big ideas, it’s this vision for design excellence that has led Fast Company to name Populous one of the world’s 50 most innovative companies for 2022, ranking Populous as No. 1 in architecture.
With colleagues spanning across North America and the world, we come together regularly to share ideas, connect on projects and inspire one another. Projects are not assigned solely based on office location and nearly all projects in the Americas engage staff members from multiple offices within the region.
In the Americas, many of our interns and new grads get their start in Kansas City, Missouri, home to our biggest office and the birthplace of sports architecture.

At Populous, we are committed to uplifting diverse individuals by providing a safe space and platform to amplify their voices and perspectives. Through our inclusive culture, we provide equitable opportunities for diverse talent to advance. We educate our staff on how to be better allies within our practice and the community at large. All of this contributes to the humanity of our firm, ensuring more purpose, enrichment and acceptance for all.
POP Together focuses on four key impact areas:
1. Education and Outreach: Celebrates human connections by bringing awareness and open invitations for participation across the firm.
2. Belonging and Engagement: Builds an inclusive culture through active engagement with new and existing employees.
3. Inclusive Design: Creates solutions beyond any one person’s experience by solving for visible and invisible challenges and delivering a better built environment for all.
4. Business Objectives: Demonstrates the value of inclusion in our work with clients while expanding our next generation of talent.
At our very core, we care about creating unforgettable experiences for people: our people, the people we work with and the people we design for.
We believe that the future of venue and event design can and should be environmentally sustainable. We are committed to producing outcomes that are world-leading in reducing the impact on our environment with the end goal of regenerative and climate positive venues.
Populous has a global internal group called EcoPOP, which is dedicated to incorporating practices of sustainability and climate justice more deeply into our culture, while striving to lead on sustainable design and sustainable practices within our offices.
Populous frequently partners with and sponsors non-profit organizations and employees regularly participate in events that improve our community. A few examples include employees volunteering as reading mentors to elementary school students, supporting STEM programming, organizing service days to help revitalize historic parts of communities and much more.
